Nurture Home

Nurture Home is our response to single women and mothers who are homeless, and most often the victims of domestic violence. Nurture Home provides structured interventions to empower each of the women to become self-sufficient. Combined with individualized support to improve the mental health of women and their children, our goal is to end the cycle of homelessness.

Nuture home gains more money to continue transforming the lives of homeless women, Posted: 8:58 AM May 3, 2012

"A shelter for homeless single moms finally found enough money to sustain their projects. The shelter's organizers say homelessness is becoming a widespread problem in Aiken County. A historic home in downtown Aiken serves as the temporary home for about a dozen women trying to get back on their feet.....The constant monitoring and staffing of the home requires money and the non-profit's executive director says they were barely making ends meet. "We struggled to make payroll almost every pay period," Tindal said. This year Nurture Home qualified for federal grant money to the tune of $120,000 for two years. "It's going to make an amazing impact on our sustainability," said Tindal. Click here to see the entire report

A Garden of Hope "A new group called Mommy & Me Missions was formed by Adrienne Patterson so mothers and their children could give back to the community. Adrienne established the group in June, and the group will do volunteer work every Wednesday until school starts. They planted a garden at the Nurture Home in late June and the garden continues to flourish and provide both beauty and sustenance to the residents of the shelter." Helping Build a Foundation for the Future  "Woodside Plantation and the Women of Woodside donated proceeds from the 2011 Festival of Homes to Mental Health America of Aiken County's Nurture Home. Nurture Home is committed to ensuring a safe and caring temporary place for homeless women and their children while requiring the commitment of the residents to take care of the house, parent their children and hold a job or pursue an education. Nurture Home is making the lives of homeless mothers and children in our community."
