Our agency has four programs with one consistent theme: support to individuals who are at risk of becoming overwhelmed by negative circumstances. Our mission is twofold. By assisting individuals in crisis, we help prevent mental illness. We support families and individuals whose lives are impacted by a diagnosed mental illness, improving their quality of life.

 

   

Our History:

 

Mental Health America of Aiken County (MHAAC) has been a vital support to our community since 1967. Our responses to advocate for those affected by mental illness, to educate the community, and to prevent mental illness, continue to be the basis for our delivery of services.

Our Programs:

   

Nurture Home is our response to single women and mothers who are homeless, and most often victims of domestic violence. Nurture Home provides interventions to empower women to become self-sufficient combined with individualized support to improve the mental health of women and their children. Learn more...

 

 

Welcome Baby supports the parents of newborns. We provide informative childcare resources as well as information for parents on how to care

for themselves emotionally.

Operation Santa, an annual Christmas celebration, which enhances the lives of adults in our community who have a diagnosed mental illness.

Education and Advocacy programs that help individuals recognize  the symptoms

of mental illness.Training programs, MoreThanSad, for students and educators, and Question, Persuade, Refer

for any group, is provided as

an effort to prevent suicide. MHAAC provides each of these resources/training opportunities at no cost to you as an effort to promote positive mental health for our community.

We support those who have suffered the loss of suicide through a monthly Suicide Loss Bereavement Group.
